Alchemy: “a form of chemistry and speculative philosophy practiced in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and concerned principally with discovering methods for transmuting baser metals into gold and with finding a universal solvent and an elixir of life”

I have thought about alchemy a bit. Think about it, to “transmute baser metals into gold”. I have contemplated alchemy in a spiritual sense. I have often prayed for God to help me be less and to be more: less of what is baser and more of what is holy. The following poem was written with that in mind.

Deep down.
But, slowly.
No longer self.
Less than self.
More than self.
As intended.
Spiritual alchemy.
